The Graduate Diploma in Social Psychology and Counselling is a practical and stimulating programme designed for candidates with little or no knowledge in psychology and counselling. This highly interactive programme would be able to:

Programme Structure

This programme comprises of 4 modules, which will help you gain cutting edge Social Psychology knowledge and practical hands-on counselling skills using current industry best practices as case studies and benchmark.


Deals with the research and developments in the study of the basic psychological factors in social interaction and the social processes.

Provides a good understanding of the key techniques use in counselling which includes listening, interviews, asking questions, reflecting and clarification.

Address the biological, cognitive and psychosocial areas of human development as human beings undergo interesting development during a life span.

Cover the basic tenets and therapeutic processes that characterize various theoretical approaches to counselling and psychotherapy.


This is 100% coursework based programme.

Delivery Structure

All classes are conducted via face to face instructions and interactions. Students are engaged in the learning process through lectures, groups discussions, experiential exercises, interactive role plays, supervised practice of counselling work and supervision. Classes would be held on the weekends as shown below.

  • Engaged (either independently or with my colleagues) in classroom management, counselling at-risk students, moderating, marking and developing curriculum, examination papers, and assignments.
  • Motivate students’ learning through quizzes, lectures, presentation and discussion. Guiding students to work through assignments and theses effectively and efficiently. Inspiring students to work towards their academic goals progressively. Demonstrate respect for students’ feedback from multiple sources

  • Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in psychology from the University of Hong Kong.
  • Mental Health Specialist, Supervisor and Teacher Trainer at Mindful Wisdom Mind Training and Counseling Centre Limited
  • Guided mindfulness practices such as breath focusing and yoga stretching for teenager, adults, and seniors in community centers 


  • Masters of Social Science in Sociology from National University of Singapore (NUS)
  • Lectured on Core Social Science and Security Studies modules as well as Psychology at the advanced diploma and diploma levels.
  • Was a head tutor, supervised and coordinated tutor and students matters in various MENDAKI centers under the MENDAKI Tuition Scheme (MTS).
  • Managed over 50 tutors and 500 students.
  • Awarded the HSM " Model Employer Award" in the rehabilitation of an ex-offender who was formerly a staff.

Upon successful completion of the programme, you will be awarded a Postgraduate Diploma in Social Psychology and Counselling by Aventis School of Management.

Admission Criteria

Participants are expected to contribute to the class learning experiences in a cohort and peer learning environment. You will be assessed based on experience, aptitude, potential and managerial skills.

At least 21 years old with a Degree in any discipline

A Diploma in any course (minimum of 5 years relevant work experience).

Mature Candidates (at least 30 years old) with minimum 8 years of working experience.
